Nymi is a secure authentication solution for workers on manufacturing floors, in labs, cleanrooms, and other non-office environments where entering a username and password slows down work or is simply impractical.
The Nymi Band 4 is a biometric workplace wearable that binds a user's digital identity to the wristband they wear throughout their workday. A simple tap enables users to log in to applications and systems, complete electronic signatures, and access physical spaces.
At the start of work, the user authenticates their identity using the Nymi Band's fingerprint sensor. After successful authentication, the Nymi Band remains bound to the user's identity while it is worn. When the band is removed, the authenticated state ends automatically. This allows the user to access different systems throughout the workday without repeatedly entering a username and password.
This experience is especially practical on manufacturing floors, in labs, and in cleanrooms, where workers often wear gloves or other personal protective equipment.

The Nymi Band binds a user's identity to a workplace wearable and enables multi-factor authentication throughout the workday.
The user authenticates directly on the band using their fingerprint. The user can then use the Nymi Band for passwordless login to applications and systems, electronic signatures, or physical access.
The band communicates with workstations, terminals, and other devices over secure NFC and secure Bluetooth Low Energy connections.
Nymi can be deployed in two ways:
Nymi is designed for organizations where strong identity assurance, access control, data integrity, and end-to-end traceability are critical.
The solution is used in pharmaceutical and food and beverage manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, labs, retail and warehousing, and other environments where fast, reliable system access is part of everyday work.
Nymi supports organizations with compliance requirements in regulated environments, including 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and GxP requirements, particularly for user authentication, access control, and electronic signatures.
For GxP environments, documentation is also available to support solution validation according to the GAMP 5 approach.
In regulated manufacturing systems, workers may need to confirm operations, manufacturing steps, or other activities with an electronic signature many times during a single shift.
With the Nymi Band, users do not need to re-enter their username and password each time.
The band provides strong user identity assurance, while the MES, LIMS, or other enterprise application continues to manage electronic records, audit trail data, and any other information required by the target application.
This streamlines operator workflows without reducing control over the user's identity.
The user's biometric data is processed directly on the Nymi Band.
During enrollment, the fingerprint image is translated into a mathematical template, and the original fingerprint image is discarded and never stored.
The biometric template remains in protected memory within the band and is not accessible from outside the device. Biometric data is not stored in a centralized database.
This enables identity verification without centrally storing workers' fingerprints.
For broader deployment in manufacturing and regulated environments, the Nymi Band can be paired with the Nymi Connected Worker Platform.
The platform enables centralized management of users, Nymi Bands, and authentication policies, and connects user identity to existing IT and OT applications, terminals, and systems.
This allows Nymi to integrate with systems that were not originally designed for passwordless authentication.
Nymi works with a broad ecosystem of industrial, MES, LIMS, virtual desktop, and IT/OT solutions.
Supported integrations include Körber PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter EX PH, Rockwell Automation PharmaSuite, ThinManager, IGEL, and Citrix.
The feasibility of a specific integration depends on the application, system architecture, and deployment approach.
The Nymi Band can also be used in systems built on the zenon Software Platform.
As a FIDO2 Certified authenticator, the Nymi Band can be used in architectures where zenon Identity Service connects user authentication to an external Identity Provider, such as Microsoft Entra ID.
This allows Nymi to become part of an existing identity management and authentication environment without developing a separate mechanism for username and password entry.
The core idea behind Nymi is simple:
Authenticate once. Work everywhere.
The user authenticates the Nymi Band at the start of work.
The band then represents their digital identity while it remains on-body.
With a simple tap, the user can log in to an HMI, terminal, or application, complete an electronic signature, or access a secure physical space.
When the user removes the Nymi Band, the authenticated state ends.
In this way, one workplace wearable can connect a worker's physical identity to the different IT and OT systems they use throughout the workday.
